About Numurkah
Numurkah is a town in Victoria, Australia, located
on the Goulburn Valley Highway, 37 kilometres
north of Shepparton, in the Shire of Moira. Today
Numurkah supports a population of 3500 most of
whom are dependent in one way or another on
the fruit industry.
Numurkah is a low lying town located on the
floodplain of the Broken Creek. The Broken Creek
flows into the Murray River just north of the
township of Barmah.
Irrigation helps keep the fruit trees, dairy herds
and vines content and you can sample the local
fare at a number of regional outlets including
varietal table and fortified wines at Monichino’s,
8km north, and at the Kraft cheese factory at
nearby Strathmerton.
