About Highton
Highton is a residential suburb of Geelong,
Victoria, Australia. It is bordered by Ceres and
Wandana Heights to the west, the Barwon River
to the north and east, the former Kardinia
Creek to the south-east, and the Princes
Highway and Pigdons Road to the south.
An outer western suburb of Geelong, Highton is
at the centre of a high growth area on the
southern banks of the Barwon River.
In spite of the growth, however, the area retains
its spacious charm thanks mainly to an
expansive green belt which flanks both sides of
the river. The river and the green areas
combine to make Highton one of the most
desirable, up-market suburbs in Geelong.
In the 2011 Australian census the population of
Highton was 16,657 when there were 8,567
Females and 8,090 Males living there. The
median age for people living in Highton was 41.
