About Springsure
Springsure is a small town in Central Highlands
Region, Queensland, 66 kilometres south of
Emerald on the Gregory Highway. Springsure is
765 kilometres northwest of Brisbane. At the 2006
census, Springsure had a population of 829.
Springsure is situated in a delightful valley with
spectacular Mount Zamia and Virgin Rock
overlooking the town.
Springsure derived its name from the permanent
springs in the creek and gullies at the time of
settlement in the area.
