business district. Its local government area is the
Shire of Yarra Ranges. At the 2011 Census, Mount
Evelyn had a population of 9374 with an exact split
of males and females.
The village of Mount Evelyn is centred around a
vibrant street flanked by ancient trees including
the spectacular listed Illawara Flame Tree. The
village centre offers picnic facilities, cafes,
historical points of interest including the old
railway platform which has stunning views of Mt
Dandenong, mosaics and unique hand-painted
totems.
