About Mount Low
Mount Low is a recent residential district
between Bushland Beach and Deeragun, 16 km
west of central Townsville. The area was named
and gazetted in 1911.
Mount Low's main internal-access route is
Mount Low Parkway, running northwards from
the Bruce Highway. In 2008 the Townsville
Regional Council approved a 1300-lot housing
development plan by the Maidment
Development Group, estimated to have a
ten year completion period.
Mount Low relies on neighbouring suburbs for
schools and shopping. Across the Bruce
Highway in Deeragun there are the Northern
Beaches High School (1997) and a nearby
highway shopping centre. In neighbouring
Burdell there is the Bohlevale primary school
(1911) and an adjacent site reserved for a
regional shopping centre. Northwards, in
Bushland Beach, there are the Mount Low
tavern and a local shopping centre.
